Original language description
To measure magnetic susceptibility several methods are employed that use regular-shape specimens of diamagnetic and paramagnetic substances. This paper describes an MRI method for measuring the magnetic susceptibility of specimens in the shape of cylindrical bars of arbitrary diameter that do not produce an MR signal. The proposed method is based on measuring a 3D map of the reaction field in the vicinity of the specimen. This reaction field was mapped by Gradient Echo method (GE). The method can be used for specimens of irregular cross-section and it is not necessary to use mathematical simulation of magnetic field distribution. A great advantage of our method for susceptibility evaluation consists in using only standard commercially used devices without needing any special sequence.
