    A Comparison of VoIP performance and capacity over PON and metallic networks

  • Original language description

    Nowadays, a great extension of FTTH services through using PON technology is provided by Internet service providers who also offer VoIP services. This article discusses the comparison of transmission capacity of metallic and PON fibre optic network for VoIP services with SIP and IAX signalling protocols and with various codecs. Various PON network topologies are used in measuring scenarios with utilizing PBX Asterisk on provider's side of network. SIPp program is used for generating a call on customer'sside. In this context, parameters such as jitter, call setup time, and MOS are also compared.
