Proposal of security for smart metering
Original language description
Due to liberalization of the energy market, there is increasing pressure for more accurate and frequent measure of energy consumption. This problem can be solved thanks to smart metering, which allows remote data reading from meters. Currently, this sector is already quite widespread and is experiencing rapid development. In order to provide maximum useful features, companies often forget about the security of communication, which can be compromised and lead to enormous material losses or even failure of the entire grid. This paper first describes principles of operation and benefits of smart metering, followed by general security requirements, which are based on specific recommendations for smart metering and finally, it summarizes the current situation in this area.
