A MOBILITY PREDICTION METHOD FOR MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS USING DIRECTIONAL ANTENNAS
Original language description
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are networks that can establish communication without any pre-existing infrastructure. Because of frequent node mobility and unreliable wireless links, the network is characterized by unpredictable topological changes. The main aim of the paper is to predict the future movement of nodes based on the information of current network status and use this information to receive/transmit energy in a particular direction as compared to other directions. The paper presents a mobility prediction method for mobile ad hoc networks using Directional Antennas. Directional antennas allow the interference to be reduced and hence the overall capacity of ad hoc networks to be improved. The power consumption is also decreased. We propose a Markov model-based mobility management scheme that provides an adaptive location prediction mechanism.
