Common Industrial Protocol in machine safety
Original language description
The authors discuss the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), an instrument used on many types of networks, including EtherNet and DeviceNet. The CIP is classified into a large number of variants, for example CIP Safety, CIP Sync, or CIP Energy, to facilitate easy communication of components in industrial networks which need to interact with other parts within the network. Out of these categories, CIP Safety will be described in more detail with a particular focus on its principles and applications.
