A New Data Processing Platform for LTE-Advanced Networks in Indoor Environments
Original language description
3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) mobile networks, the fourth generation wireless access technology, have been rolled out by many operators worldwide starting 2010. Since LTE Release 10, network densification using small cells has been an important evolution direction in 3GPP to provide the necessary means to accommodate the anticipated huge traffic growth, especially for indoor deployments. Inspired by this increasing demand, in this paper, we provide a comprehensive summary of our live trial of transmission power optimization within the full-featured 3GPP LTE-A indoor deployment. The paper is focused on the measurement of parameters such as RSSI, RSRQ, SINR, and RSRP. For the measurement itself, the Rhode&Schwarz TSMW universal frequency analyzer TSMW together with a generic Android smartphone was used. From measured data, we provide side by side comparison of differences between the obtained values with the clear conclusion of whether the smartphone can substitute the professional frequency analyzer in some scenarios. On top of the results we got, the new software tool for professional spectrum analyzers was created to analyze the exported data in vendor-specific format.
