Model of Fiber Optic Transmission System Based on the Red Pitaya
Original language description
The paper describes the possibilities of the chromatic dispersion and attenuation simulation in a fiber optic transmission system. For evaluation of measured/simulated parameters it is also possible to use the eye diagram. Final design of fiber optic transmission system is based on Red Pitaya board and Koheron's optical components. The maximum frequency of transmission is 1 MHz, but system enables simulation of frequencies up to 10 GHz. Except main parameters measurement and evaluation it is also possible to transmit code words and evaluate the correctness of transmission. The main advantage of the solution is easy extensibility e.g. by new modulation formats.
