The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is the Industrie 4.0 solution for digital twins. The digital twins contain digital representations of the assets in various domains and for various applications. The AAS have to be configured by the data accompanying the assets along their life cycle. Most companies already have a digital representation of their assets in terms of master data, planning documents, virtual models etc. This representation is often referred as a product database even if it is usually a distributed, often also heterogeneous or restructured storage in various formats, e.g. in files, databases, web pages. The required information has to be searched and found in the already existing data sets for the configuration of the AAS. This could be a task with big efforts which is time consuming and error-prone if it is done manually.
