    Communication Testbed for Smart Substations

  • Original language description

It is necessary to test the proposed technical solutions and procedures in precisely defined conditions, where it is also possible to evaluate the success of partial processes, when considering the implementation of the concept in the operational environment. The operating conditions should thus be as close as possible to the intended use in practice, depending on the specific purpose of the use. The paper focuses on design, implementation, and validation of communication testbeds for Smart Substations, which create conditions that reflect the real operations and communication characteristics in the considered concepts of Smart Substations. On the created testbed, it will be possible to realistically simulate the operation of smart elements and perform an analysis of communication between individual elements. Control and the possibility of rapid and dynamic change of operating conditions with the possibility of analyzing the communication of individual elements and the current similarity with real communication scenarios across the Smart Grids and Smart Cities is the key to the success of the testbed/polygon.
