    Frequency Quadrupler for Ultra-Wideband mm-Wave M-Sequence Transceiver

  • Original language description

    Frequency quadrupler for ultra-wideband M-sequence mm-wave radar transceivers is presented. The frequency quadrupler is designed in 0.13 mu m SiGe BiCMOS technology by IHP Microelectronics with f(t)/f(max)=350/450 GHz. The circuit was designed with output operation frequency from units of GHz up to 80 GHz. There are combined two almost similar multipliers, with input, central, and output buffers. The quadrupler is primarily designed to drive ultra-wideband up-down converter for multi-band mm-wave radar. The differential output power reaches -4 dBm at the frequency 80 GHz. The input of the frequency quadrupler is sensitive from -12 dBm to -7 dBm differentially. The power consumption of the designed frequency quadrupler achieves 54 mA at 2.5 V power supply. For performance evaluation, basic simulations were performed.
