Evaluation IEC 60850 Protocols based Protection Schemes of Digital Substation.
Original language description
Although IEC 61850 GOOSE and Sampled values (SVs) have demonstrated to be highly reliable for use in multiple applications, many users still experience fears and challenges with the actual transition to digital substation based on IEC 61850 communication protocols. Therefore, more experimental studies and research are needed to encourage the deployment of digital stations rather than traditional ones. This paper aims to evaluate IEC 61850 technique for digital substation in comparison to conventional methodology. This paper describes in detail how IEC 61850 GOOSE and SV can be implemented for protection schemes as part of the continuing efforts to digitize stations. The work outlines the hardware & software implemented and analyses the laboratory testing results
