IoT mechatronic access control system ePRO 1.4
Original language description
Mechatronic systems blend mechanical safety with access control, but the ones available on the market have their shortcomings; they lack a fully wireless setup, their mechanical dimensions are increased, and the number of stored logs in keys is limited. Therefore, in this paper, we aimed to develop a complete wireless IoT mechatronic security system, the ePRO version 1.4. The presented system allows for online updates to access permissions, keys are updated wirelessly, and cylinders do not need extra wiring while maintaining their original dimensions. The system resists mechanical damage, increased voltage, electrostatic discharge, and hacker attacks. We've outlined and analyzed potential threats to ePRO through a threat model and matrix and conducted an informal security analysis to gauge its defence against diverse attacks. Moreover, we carried out performance evaluations on the ePRO server, the unlocking procedure, and the communication between the key and server. Through this innovation, we're not only advancing mechatronic system design but also setting a new standard for secure and efficient access control.
