Integrating Quantum Key Distribution Into Academic Network: Practical Challenges and Solutions

  • Original language description

This paper investigates the integration of Coherent One-Way (COW) Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems into academic fiber-optic networks. Particular attention is given to key deployment challenges, including connector-induced reflections, the co-existence of quantum and classical service channels within shared infrastructures, and sensitivity to environmental perturbations such as temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress. The study aims to demonstrate how these challenges can be mitigated through careful system design and calibration, ultimately enabling stable key generation rates and maintaining high levels of security. The findings are directly relevant to the advancement of scalable and reliable quantum communication infrastructures within academic and research environments.
