Calculation of an Arc Plasma Temperature

Result description

This paper deals with calculation of Elenbaas-Heller equation for prediction of radial temperature profile and intensity of electric field in the electric arc plasma burning in SF6 gas. Radiation in EH equation is respected via a fixed parameter, which characterizes ratio of radiation power and electric input (Ohmic heating). Influence of the parameter (and thus influence of the radiation energy exchange) on resulting energy balance and the intensity of electric field is analysed. Similarly, calculations of the temperature and the electric field for the other parameters, such as arc current, arc radius, plasma pressure and wall temperature are compared.
