Implementation of a Cellular Automaton with Globally Switchable Rules
Original language description
Cellular automata represent a model of a machine with totally distributed (local) transition function. Previous studies indicate that some kind of global influence may affect efficiency of computation of the automata. Polymorphic electronics is an approach that brings a kind of global control to components inside the circuit not by a global signal but by an environment variable. It seems that this approach may be useful just for enhanced cellular automata implementation. In this paper, real implementation of a cellular automaton using polymorphic chip and results of experiments are presented and discussed.
