The aim of this work the extension of fluorescence spectroscopy application for characterization of humic substances. Humic substances were isolated from South Moravia lignite by standard alkali extraction. a sample of sodium humate was prepared by titration of lignitic humic acid with sodium hydroxide. Excitation and emission wavelengths results of standard (Fluka) and Leonardite humic acid (IHSS) were compared. Synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy was used for scan by setting of constant wavelength ddifference (delta lambda) for better spectral resolution. Such method was used for determination and identification of fluorescence components of the system.
