Original language description
One of the most common device in electronics is a switching unit distinguishing between two states: 'on' and 'off' ('0' and '1', respectively). Although there are many posible designs to produce such unit, none of them have been used to build commercialelectronic devices yet. One of the reliable ways is believed to be light driven switching of a multistable molecular system exhibiting photochromic properties based on spiropyrans. In the present paper we concentrate on optical and electrical propertiesof macroscopic samples build of model materials. A brief description of the switch architecture proposed by Nespurek at al. is also given.
