Original language name
Living polymerization of olefins initiated by nickel catalysts
Original language description
Nickel diimine complexes have recently been shown as efficient catalyst for olefin polymerization. Besides, polymerization of higher a-olefins initiated by some nickel catalysts proceeds in living-like fashion, i.e. without noticeable transfer and termination. This contribution reports for the first time on living-like polymerization of olefins initiated by several others diimine complexes of nickel. Further, unusual kinetics of these systems is observed revealing decrease of propagation rate constant values with increase of initial monomer concentration. This behavior can be correlated with suggested mechanism, which includes competition between isomerization (chain walking) and propagation reaction, and is documented by changes in polymer microstructure.
