ULTRA-HIGH STRENGTH REACTIVE POWDER CONCRETES (MORTARS)
Original language description
The ultra-high strength of reactive powder concrete (RPC) is achieved due to the following factors very fine aggregate within 0 - 4 mm in size (preferably fused bauxite), proper kind and amount of superplasticizer and steel microfibers and substitution of a part of fine sand by steel powder. The possibility to ensure at least first period of setting under certain pressure is very effective. After 1 day of moist curing at ambient temperature, the compressive strengths exceed 80 MPa. After 28 days they even rise to 220 MPa. Thermal treatment at 250 and 400 causes the formation of crystalline xonotlite and the increase of compressive strengths above 350 MPa, reportedly even above 700 MPa. The study of the further chemical and physico-mechanical propertiesof these very promising high-strength and corrosion resistance performance composites has been in progress.
