Persistent organic pollutants in waste waters
Original language description
Human activities have negative impact on all environmental compartments including hydrosphere. The main way the pollutants get into the water is through wastewaters. Purity of surface water is influenced by developed industry and agriculture and it cannot be no longer used as water for technical purposes. Moreover polluted surface waters are able to affect sources of drinking water. Apart from surface water, even waste water is very polluted which can threaten the quality treatment before its dischargeinto rivers. Among significant producers of polluted wastewater belong the industry and agricultural primary production. According to the levels of pollutants, industrial water can be divided into two main groups: waste water predominantly contaminated with organic compounds and waste water predominantly contaminated with inorganic compounds. In the first case (e.g. waste water from food industry) biological purification in an independent industrial waste water treatment plant may be tak
