V článku jsou přehledně shrnuty poznatky o roli mezivrstev v heterogenních materiálech na jejich výsledné chování a vlastnosti. Speciální pozornost je věnována struktuře a vlastnostem mezivrstev v kompozitech s mikrometrickými inkluzemi a s nanometrickými inkluzemi.
