Material Printing - a New Approach to Thin Layer Fabrication
Original language description
Inkjet printing is a well established and widely used printing technique. However, during past few years we have witnessed a major breakthrough of inkjet printing into a totally new application field - the manufacture of thin layers and multilayer structures. This approach to thin layer fabrication is often termed "material printing" which well captures the key idea of this process: functional materials are deposited and patterned onto substrate by means of a piezo-driven print head. The following letter gives three particular examples of utilization of material printing for the fabrication of thin layers of PEDOT, metallic conducting paths and semiconductor oxide layers.
