Long-Term Test of Inkjet Printouts Lightfastness
Original language description
Inkjet printing technology became a popular technology for printing digital photographs in the last decade. Therefore, it is important to test the stability of inkjet printouts for long term storage under environmental influence. The stability of printouts is affected by many factors, such as ink-receiving layer, ink composition, UV and visible light intensity and airborne pollutants concentration in the environment. Inkjet printouts exposed to light undergo surprisingly fast fading. From this point ofview, the most devastating is UV radiation which initiates photochemical changes. Experiment was situated in a sunny indoor corridor where UV to visible radiation ratio did not exceed the value of 7 ?W/lm. The values of light intensity and radiation werecontinuously monitored and samples were regularly measured with a spectrophotometer. The time dependent changes of relative colour gamut volumes were found to be of great informational value about samples lightfastness. Both cheap and hi
