Gamut Volume as a Tool for Image Permanence Determination: Recent Advances Using the Quick-hull Algorithm
Original language description
Gamut volume is one of the parameters generally used for the characterization of printers and other imaging devices. However, it can also be used for monitoring color print fading. Relative gamut volume changes plott ed as a function of exposure dose canbe conveniently used to determine the fading rate and corresponding lifetime. Calculating the gamut volume is a challenge on its own, as gamuts might not be necessarily convex bodies. This problem can be overcome by a non-linear convexing transformationof the measured data points. The paper illustrates this approach on a model dataset. Optimal degree of convexing is determined by means of an empirical study on 19 real samples.
