Utilization of In-electrode Coulometric Titration in Humic Research

  • Original language description

In this work, the in-electrode coulomeric titration is used for analysis of humic acids in aqueous solutions. The method is based on the galvanostatical reduction of splitting off hydrogen ions at a suitable potential. The method was valited using simpleorganic acids (acetic acid, benzoic acid, citric acid, oxalic acid, phthalic acid and salicylic acid). It was found that efficiency of the method depends on acid concentration and strength. The limits are concentration of 20 mmol.dm-3 and pKa 5. Humic acids are analysed as extract in solution of sodium sulfate (1,5 % wt.). The efficiency of galvanostatic reduction depended on concentration of humic acids as in previous case. The limit obtained for used sample was 20 g of humic acids per litre. It is well-known that humic acids are soluble in neutral aqueous solutions only partially1. Their carboxylic groups have various strength which influences their solubility and activity in natural systems. Humic fractions rich with carboxylic grou
