The study of pi-conjugated polymers for photovoltaic application by fluorescence quenching experiments
Original language description
The pi-conjugated polymers create promising group of electron donating materials suitable for optoelectronic applications like photovoltaic cells. The processes leading to free charge carries photogeneration, i.e. exciton diffusion, charge transfer, energy transfer, can be studied by fluorescence quenching experiments. Studies were realized in solutions as well as in thin layers. This contribution presents fluorescence quenching experiments in solution of four polymers: MDMO-PPV , Tg-PPV, PCDTBT and PCBTDPP by fullerenes: PC60BM ([6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester) and PC70BM ([6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester). It was found that Perrin radius of static quenching can be identified with Förster resonance energy transfer radius and charge transfer cannot be detected under the given experimental conditions in solution. This result builds on the previous studies of photogeneration processes by ultrafast methods, which showed that energy transfer plays important role in pho
