Application of mass spectrometry in waste water analysis
Original language description
This study was focused on the identification and quantification of selected residuals of pharmaceuticals and musk compounds in waste water from the Brno agglomeration and surroundings, which is treated by large-scale municipal waste water treatment plantBrno-Modřice. This facility is based on standard two-stage technology (mechanical + biological using activated sludge) and after deep reconstruction finished at 2004 its technology is on high level. Samples of waste water were collected at the inflow and outflow of the WWTP and in receiving Svratka River. From the group of synthetic fragrances nitro-musks, polycyclic aromatic musks and linear musks were followed; SPME in head-space mode and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection were used for their isolation and determination. From the group of pharmaceuticals the non-steroid inflammatory drugs and sulphonamide antibiotics were targeted; in this case, solid phase extraction and liquid chromat
