Thin Barrier Films for Protection of Metallic Archaeological Artefacts
Original language description
Recently, deposition of thin films as gas barrier protection of material against external influences has become more and more popular. One of the possible applications is also a barrier film for protection of cleaned metallic archaeological artefacts to prevent additional corrosion. In this study, Parylene (poly(p-xylylene)) was chosen as a suitable precursorfor preparation of barrier filmin combination with a soluble interlayer, which allows removal of protective film. Significant improvement of barrierproperties was achieved using protective multilayer of lacquer Laksil/parylene.
