New Plasma Sources for Biomedical Applications
Original language description
Novel plasma sources generating discharge in liquids is based on the pin-hole discharge configuration. The simple source configuration allows operation at applied voltage from 1 kV using DC, AC, and high frequency as well as RF power supplies without additional gas inlet. The source operates in conductive solutions (both water and organic) with conductivity in the range 100 - 15000 microS/cm. The discharge itself shows self-pulsing operation with short spark like pulses of extremely high energy density (over 100 kW/mm3) producing strong acoustic waves. The plasma sources should be widely applicable in the plasma medicine field. The preliminary proposed applications are various surface treatment, sterilization, ablation, wound healing etc. The detailed diagnostics of this novel plasma source at different regime is carried out currently.
