Utilization of TEM to observe morphological changes of bacterial cells containing PHA granules which were exposed to various stress factors
Original language description
It is known that bacteria have numerous strategies how they protect themselves against various stress factors such as pH, temperature or osmotic shock.Recently, the role of intracellular storage compounds – so called polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) in stress survival of bacteria was emphasized. In this work we employed the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as a very powerful method to observe morphology of PHA accumulating bacteria cells of Cupriavidus necator H16 which were exposed to various stress conditions.
