Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using mango peel extract
Original language description
Green biosynthesis of nanoparticles is eco-friendly and cost effective area of nano-biotechnology. In this study, silver nanoparticles (Ag NP´s) were synthesized using mango peel extract. Prepared Ag NP´s were characterized by UV-VIS spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and scanning electron microscopy - energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). After the addition of mango peel extract to silver nitrate solution, the colour of the solution changed indicating the formation of Ag NP´s. Time dependent UV-VIS spectra, recorded at different time intervals (10, 25, 45, 70 and 90 minutes), were obtained to study the rate of nanoparticles formation with time. The formation of Ag NP´s was confirmed by absorbance peak in the range of 435-455 nm. DLS studies revealed that the average size of Ag NP´s was around 162 nm. Zeta potential value of Ag NP´s was -20.1 mV indicating the moderate stability of synthesized NP´s. Further, the solution containing Ag NP´s was identified by SEM-EDS, to know the surface morphology and shape of the Ag NP´s.
