Anthropocene : towards regenerative architecture
Original language description
"The book elaborates on the context of doughnut economics in reference to the realities of Polish cities, giving it a practical dimension. Experts in six domains outline the theoretical background of the six speculative installations contemplating the future of regenerative architecture, designed for the exhibition by the participating artists. The last chapter of the book brings into focus the social and political sentiments, changes to the profession, language and policy that highlight architecture as one of the emanations of global processes that influence humans, the climate and the future of the planet. The Anthropocene is the era of man and the era of changes of anthropogenic origin, resulting in catastrophic climate warming. The construction industry and building use are responsible for more than a third of global carbon dioxide emissions, one of the main causes of climate change. Cities and architecture on the current scale contribute to the disruption of nature's natural cycles and emissions, and - to the appropriation of more spaces. At the same time, it is impossible to imagine human functioning outside of architecture. It is thanks to it that we are able to ensure decent and safe living conditions for entire societies. Therefore, we are looking for ways to design and operate architecture in such a way that would not only not harm the planet, but also have regenerative potential for the environment. We prove that better architecture is possible. The publication accompanies the Anthropocene exhibition and expands the context of the economics of the obwarzanek, and the reference to the realities of Polish cities gives it a practical dimension. The book includes essays by specialists in various fields - including architects, sociologists, geographers - as well as works by artists who have created speculative installations on the future of regenerative architecture."
