Bank Credits in the Czech Republic: Their Role in Corporate Financing
Original language description
The maximization of a firm´s market value depends on an effective use of available sources of financing. From the point of view of the risk, credit life and cost of capital, bank credits rank among relatively inexpensive sources of financing. In the Czech Republic, businesses depend heavily on bank credits for their financing. Recently there has been a decrease in the absolute volume of credits granted, as well as a relative decrease in their role as a source of corporate financing. Among the main reasons are a large number of overdue credits given by domestic banks, unwillingness of banks to run high credit risks, and a low level of acceptable credit demand.
