Research background: Reviewing previous studies in the development and validation of competency models in terms of globalization for a profession had demonstrates that the methodological process starts with the identification of competency constructs and statements from literature review, document analysis and interviewing. As part of our research a competency model of top managers leading to increasing of value for customers was proposed (see. Table 1) which can be furthered by acquiring consensus from expert panel for content validity and questionnaire survey in order to validate the competency model using quantitative analysis on extended database with regards to market specifics. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this article is to develop model of competencies for top managers working in automotive industry. Using of such competence model can lead to increase of value brought to end customers and increase the company competitiveness. Methods: There was conducted literature review and qualitative analysis of interviews with top managers. The focus was placed on the key competencies within their level of management and industry in the article. Findings & Value added: Study proposes unique competency model with influence of competencies on value for customer within automotive industry based on theory principles and interviews with experts in the field of automotive industry. This competency model might be applicable also in global environment and be beneficial for company competitiveness.
