    The instabilility in steady state shear flow created by imposed shear stress has completely different physical origin for molten polymers or highly concentrated polymeric solution, and for Newtonian liquids. At certain concentrations of very diluted polymer solution these two different mechanism can counter balance each other and thus create the "drag reduction" phenomeon.
