Thermotropic liquid crystal aromatic polyester such as poly-p-oxybenzoate (P-OB) and poly-2,6-oxynaphthoate (P-ON) and related homopolymers and copolymers are often studied both from theoretical and practical point of view. The preparation of samples suitable for x-ray, electron microscopy and electron diffraction has a great importance for a successful study of polymer structure and morphology. The versatility of newly developed methods for sample preparation suitable for electron microscopy and electron diffraction is described.
