Original language description
Via visual checking and metallographic analysis, local deformations in the shape of bulges with cracks were identified on the machined inner wall of aluminium alloy castings. These defects appeared due to foundry defects on the opposite outer wall of thecasting being repaired by welding and to the subsequent release of internal stress after the inner wall of the casting was machined.
