Determination stress markers Scenedesmus Quadricauda
Original language description
Mining, industrial production and human activities have their share in increasing soil contamination with heavy metals. In soil, heavy metals, are spread by hydrological processes in the environment, which can lead to contamination of soil, water and the subsequent entry and accumulation in the food chain. For this reason, many scientific laboratories are engaged in exploring of biotransformation mechanisms of plants and algae and their role in bioaccumulation of heavy metals. Our work is focused on the monitoring of stress response of algae Scenedesmus quadricauda, as a result of exposure to a high concentrations of copper. Primarily we monitor effect on thiol proteins and antioxidant activity.
