A brief survey of evaluation of the results measuring the swimming techniques of the junior representation of the Czech republic
Original language description
The Centre for Sport Activities of Brno University of Technology concentrates on kinetic and dynamic analysis of linear moves of a human. It measures speed and acceleration of moves by two tachographs with synchronous recordings of moves using three-four video cameras. As for professional swimming, coaches assessing the swimming techniques usually proceed in an abstract level. During trainings, their attention is mainly focused on quantity and intensity of swimming sections. In March 2011 we measured the swimming speed of junior representation of the Czech Republic. Each measured representative was evaluated in terms of maximum mean speed (m.s-1), efficiency of swimming technique, coefficient of variation (%) and variance (m2*s-2). If high values of the above mentioned variables are not achieved, it will not be possible to give performance at worldwide level. We proved sovereignty of some juniors in the measured parameters, which enabled us to define the values of these variables achievable by training and verifiable by us. For the first time, the representatives who were measured could watch their video recordings of underwater swimming recorded by our cameras. We provided recommendations for the coaches and swimmers on how to eliminate the errors in the swimming techniques. In some of the variables, the junior representation surpassed the senior representation or closely approached it. The Czech Association of Swimming Sports is recommended to pay even more attention to the junior representation because this representation will successfully or unsuccessfully represent our country at the highest worldwide competitions and the Olympic games.
