Czech Modern Glass and the Roy and Mary Cullen Collection
Original language description
In the first three decades of the twentieth century, Czech glass underwent a rich and rapid transformation from Art Nouveau to Functionalism. During this period, the Czech refineries demonstrated that they could still produce high-quality decorative art.The Roy and Mary Cullen collection provides an overview of Czech glass from 1900 to the end of the 1930s. This diverse collection includes more than three hundred superb pieces, mostly of ornamental glass, and documents the stylistic development of Czech glass during this critical period. At the same time, the Cullen Collection also reflects the role that various glassmakers, educational institutions, and personalities played in the changing approach to formal design and decoration.
