Quantitative relationship of spore and plant assemblages from the Radnice Basin, Middle Pennsylvanian of the Czech Repu lic: preliminary results.

  • Original language description

Dispersed miospore and pollen assemblages are described from the Radnice Basin, Mid Pennsylvanian, Czech Republic. Conversion factors (R-values) were counted by comparison of the quantified palynological and macrofloral data. Palynological data were expressed as the percentage of spore/pollen taxa assigned to major plant groups. The percentage of miospores of arborescent lycopsids and their parent plants are more or less equal. A different situation concerns the miospores of other lycopsids that are strongly over-represented, i.e. percentage of their parent plants was not the same but significanty smaller than their spores. The percentage of sphenophylls and calamites was smaller than those of their spores, i.e., parent plants are under-represented. It is neccessary to increase the estimate of the percentage of ferns and cordaites in comparison to the percentage of their miospores and pollen because these spores and pollen are under-represented.
