The paper focuses on the higher education systém in the Czech Republic. It explains the institutional position of students in Czech higher education institutions and shows the ways by which students can assert their rights and demands. It gives examplesof how student´s affairs are dealt with by two nation-wide institutions: Council of Higher Education Institutions and Centre for Higher Education Studies.
