Right Ventricular Pressure Overload and Pathophysiology of Growing Porcine Biomodel
Original language description
We developed and validated experimental model of increased right ventricular afterload by pulmonary artery banding in a large growing animal. Our study did not show evidence of haemodynamic benefit of oral enoximone treatment in this setting. We have shown that pulmonary artery banding leads to morphological myocardial changes including apoptosis, proliferation and fibrosis affecting myocardium of the right and left heart. No protective effect of oral administration of enoximone was demonstrated either.
