Upper Extremity Access for Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

  • Original language description

Radial access in primary percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients reduces major bleeding events, vascular complications, and mortality when compared to femoral access. The recommendations from the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiology guidelines for radial access in primary PCI in STEMI are supported by our review.Proficiency in both transradial access and transfemoral approach remains vital in complex, high- risk procedural scenarios.
