The aim of this paper is a description of our experience with scintigraphic detection of brain death.Cerebral perfusion scintigraphy is the most contributing factor for the diagnosis of brain death in patients after cranial trauma with subsequent neurosurgical operation, when angiography is often unsuitable. In these situations perfusion scintigraphy is able to show the absence of radiopharmaceutical accumulation in cerebral tissue. Scintigraphic detection of brain death gained an important role in newCzech legislation, and the demands of transplant centres for theseexaminations will certainly grow with the accrual of organ collections.

Smyslem článku je popis našich zkušeností se scintigrafickou detekcí mozkové smrti. Mozková perfuzní scintigrafie je nejvíce přispívajícím faktorem pro diagnózu smrti mozku u pacientů po úrazech lebky s následnou neurochirurgickou operací, kdy angiografie je často nevhodná. V těchto situacích je schopna perfuzní scintigrafie ukázat absenci akumulace radiofarmaka v mozkové tkáni. Scintigrafická detekce mozkové smrti získala důležitou roli v nové české legislativě a požadavky transplantačních center na tato vyšetření jistě porostou s nárůstem odběrů orgánů.
