Original language description
Case from East Timor describes an illegally induced abortion in the second trimester pregnancy by a foreign body, which was complicated by perforation of the uterus, sepsis and coma. The patient was admitted in a deep coma (Glasgow coma scale (GCS) 5), because of a suspected perforated uterus a laparotomy was performed during which a necrotic uterus and signs of severe peritonitis were found. Simple hysterectomy and drainage were performed. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged after 17 days but was re-admitted for a spontaneous perforation of a pelvic abscess and it?s drainage through the vagina vault 3 weeks after the operation
