    Observation of Children of Mothers Who Underwent Borreliosis in The Course of Pregnancy

    We observed women who underwend borreliosis in the course of pregnancy or closely before it and their newborn children. We investigated IgG and IgM antibodies by ELISA and Western Blot (WB) methods in each trimester. After the childbirth umbilical bloodwas investigated by ELISA and WB methods in each child and in most of them by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) too. Positive ELISA IgG and/or WB IgG antibodies were detected in 13 out of 37 children. Titr of IgG antibodies was in 11 children lower than intheir mothers. Positive ELISA IgM and/or WB IgM antibodies were not detected in any children
