Increasing the Efficiency and Capacity of Security Control at the Airport when Using Biometric Characteristics
Original language description
Globally, for the past two decades, measures have been taken to protect civil aviation from illegal acts. Airport operators and international organizations dealing with safety and security are taking measures to limit passenger waiting, simplify security control processes and carry out boarding procedures with the aim of eliminating passenger restrictions while maintaining air traffic safety standards. In this context, the question arises as to whether it is possible to maintain the required level of safety and at the same time achieve the required level of passenger comfort. The solution to the security dilemma is the implementation of new technologies in combination with the passenger profiling process and biometric characteristics. Effective security screening of persons, luggage and shipments can be carried out with modern technologies based on facial recognition, fingerprint and iris recognition and behavioral screening. The article describes and discusses modern methods of ensuring security using biometric characteristics and their possible use at airports. There is a potential trade-off between enhancing traveler satisfaction by shortening the screening process and increasing it through passenger screening using biometric characteristics, which enhances safety.
