PATZAK, Josef, Alena HENYCHOVÁ, Karel KROFTA, Petr SVOBODA and Ivana MALÍŘOVÁ. The influence of Hop latent viroid (HLVd) infection on secondary metabolite contents in hop cones. In: F. WEIHRAUCH, ed. Proceedings of the Scientific-Technical Commission 03–07 July 2022, Lugo, Spain. Wolnzach: Scientific-Technical Commission of the International Hop Growers' Convention, 2022, pp. 80–86. ISSN 2512-3785. Hop latent viroid (HLVd) is worldwide spread in all of hop growing regions without any visible symptoms on infected hop plants. It was found that HLVd infection have changed the content and the composition of secondary metabolites in maturated hop cones. We evaluated influence of HLVd infection on the content and the composition of secondary metabolites in dried cones of Saaz, Sládek and Premiant cultivars during three harvest years. We confirmed that reduction of alpha bitter acids content has been the most noticeable effect of viroid infection for all of studied cultivars. Alpha bitter acid content has been in close correlation with xanthohumol content, its content was also reduced by viroid infection.
