    Using a trial and error back analysis procedure, the capabilities of the Mohr-Coulomb model and a path dependent elastic-plastic model to simulate deformation due to tunnelling are compared. The path dependent model accounts for dependence of the deformational response on the stress redistribution due to excavations and this results in a better displacement prediction.
